Posting from Ohana Villa just before the start of the second day of the two day wedding of Zaheer & Amita. Amazing day yesterday, hoping for more of the same today.
Ok, we finally get to the Davin (from here on in Ming) and Anna-Lise Wedding. Better know as a the Skittles or the Rainbow wedding (take your pick).
Ayinde met with Ming & Anna-Lise some time ago, that day (unfortunately) I pulled up just as they were walking out the door and we really didn’t have time to talk. Fortunately, Anna-Lise’s personality is just really bubbly…I mean, you can see it in the photos and Ming is just a very, very, very cool customer, so even though I didn’t “meet” them before, the day of the wedding it felt like I was with couple I had known for while. They kinda just fit.
Now, considering that, it makes sense that their decor, dresses, ties, favors, even the groomsmen socks were rainbow coloured. It seemed to be an apt reflection of both Anna-Lise and Ming. Ming is the calm after the rain, the still, constant appearing of the sun and Anna-Lise is the bright and cheerful but almost entrancing spectacle of the rainbow…or something like that.
The one thing that stood out and stayed with me, was one speech about Ming…I’m not sure who gave it but it really spoke to the heart if the man and his care for others, I think the story goes; he had some workmen working on a construction project and the rain began to fall heavily, the workmen pressed through the conditions and finished the job but Ming was saddened by the whole situation and he expressed “No one should have to work that hard”. Now I don’t really know Ming except for our interactions on the wedding day but in that moment I gained great respect for him.
At any rate, it was an excellent wedding, from the impromptu first look, to the tassa, to the man himself, Swappi (inna 4D).
Congratulations Anna-Lise and Ming
Its been a while since we’ve done a Monday wedding. Here’s one from yesterday.
Normally, we don’t do a reception shot for One shot, but this was too good to pass up. Swappi (inna 4D), a Soca Artiste from Trinidad & Tobago performed at the wedding last evening and if this photo(s)is any indication of what transpired, you know a good time was had by all.
Some images are timeless and if its one thing I like about fearless photographers is that you can submit images you created whenever…because a good image is a good image.
We created this one some time ago and we already won a WPJA award for it but it still strikes a chord of “laugh out loud” for most people.

Marlon has been my friend for over a decade now. We’ve shared tastes in music, hit the gym together (in the good ole’ days) and have generally been a good influence on each others life. He’s been there, way before weddings and photography ,so it would only make sense for us to REALLY want to shoot his wedding. In addition, Marlon is one of the best men I know and he has successfully been able to find the absolute best lady for him, in Avianne. I really don’t think I should share the details of what it took to get them this place but lets just say, one cannot measure closeness in physical distance.
About the wedding now. This was one of the weddings that transcended, what would normally be considered the content of a wedding. Of course there was cake, speeches and the like but the atmosphere was one you could not imagine or even concoct. Everything pointed toward the strength of marriage commitment and gave them a start, into what I’m more than certain, will be a long and successful life together.
We didn’t shoot getting ready, there was really no dancing to speak of but this is hands down, one of the BEST weddings we’ve ever done. Congratulations Marlon & Avianne.
